March 18, 2026  (Bernama) -- The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway for global energy supplies, carrying about 20.9 million barrels of oil a day in the first half of 2025.

Most of the crude oil and condensate passing through the Strait of Hormuz comes from a small group of Gulf producers, led by Saudi Arabia. From 2020 to the first half of 2025, it consistently accounted for the largest share by origin. By then, it was transporting around 5.6 million barrels per day through the strait, followed by Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.

Iran’s oil and condensate exports also rose sharply over the same period.
